America invented the semiconductor … but today, only 10% of the world’s chips wear a “Made in the USA” badge. And as we’ve learned through years of supply chain disruptions, relying on Asia — for chips or anything else — is downright foolish. That’s without even touching on the risk of our dependence on a potential “enemy” of the state, like China, for our most foundational technological needs.

Late last December, I shared an update explaining how Green Zone Fortunes was (inadvertently) profiting from piracy. At the time, Yemen’s Houthi pirates had just begun targeting oil tankers with missile attacks — lashing out in response to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Stock markets kicked off the new year with a punch in the gut for tech investors. Tuesday’s sell-off saw shares of mega-cap Magnificent Seven stocks tumble, wiping out more than $235 billion in market capitalization before the closing bell rang. And the selling continued today…

The Red Sea sits between the borders of Africa and the Middle East. At its very widest point, the Red Sea is just over 200 miles wide. But at the southern end, it narrows to just over 20 miles wide before flowing into the Gulf of Aden, and then into the Red Sea. So … why the geography lesson?
