I’m thrilled to tell you that we have a new trade to make today. As you can see, the energy sector (XLE) ranks No. 1 on this week’s Leaders & Laggards Board.

I recommend that you sell the first third of your position in the Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE: XLB). The $85-strike calls we purchased on October 19 for $3.70 now sell for around $6.50. This gives us the opportunity to lock in partial profits of about 75% on the first third of our position.

On Monday, I recommended you set two profit-taking “traps:” one on our CVS Health Corp. (NYSE: CVS) calls, the other on our Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE: XLF) calls. That involved placing limit orders to sell at specific prices: $7.90 for CVS; $3.05 for XLF. I’m pleased to confirm that we hit both of these profit traps yesterday.
