The market has been in free fall since Wednesday’s announcement by President Donald Trump of reciprocal tariffs. Initially, the tariffs were digested as being “not as bad as we thought” until it was revealed the U.S. would impose across-the-board levies against imports. All three major U.S. indexes are in freefall like it’s 2020.

I’ve written numerous times about the cracks that have begun to show in the armor of the market’s most beloved stocks — the so-called “Magnificent 7.” Even their moniker sets them up for the grandest expectations, right?! The high-bar expectations investors placed on Nvidia’s recent earnings announcement acted as something of a “tell,” as the stock sold off despite margin “beats” on both revenue and earnings.
