On Tuesday, I commented on the “early signs of success” we were seeing in our bullish small-cap tech stock plays … as the call options on MTLS, ATEN and OSPN were all showing open gains. Unfortunately, today’s market action shows just how quickly things can change, especially in the small-cap space. While we’re still holding on to a marginal open gain in the $22.50-strike calls on A10 Networks (ATEN), our positions in OSPN and MTLS, in particular, have taken meaningful hits.

Big news out over the weekend… A Chinese company called DeepSeek produced an AI model that at least rivals the best American models, including the ones made by OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. More so, DeepSeek reportedly spent a mere $5.6 million training the model, or 97% less than what OpenAI is sinking into theirs.
