Congress is currently in recess following a blowout Fourth of July celebration at the Capitol. Generally, that would make for a pretty quiet week. Except there’s no such thing as a quiet week when it comes to Donald Trump’s presidency.

It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating America’s Bicentennial… I was still a youngster back then, and my class made a field trip all the way from Atlanta to the nation’s capital in Washington D.C. by train, just so we could enjoy the festivities. Fast-forward 50 years, and some things have changed — while some things have stayed the same.

This past Sunday, Donald Trump celebrated America’s 250th birthday by hosting “UFC Freedom 250” — an unprecedented evening of combat sports on the White House lawn. It was a divisive event, but it was also a spectacle unlike anything the country has ever seen… B-1B bombers roared by overhead as the United States Marine Band belted out the Stars and Stripes … fireworks blasted out across the national mall to herald the Main Event … and some of the world’s most talented fighters pummeled their opponents in front of a massive audience.
