One of Donald Trump’s greatest political strengths has always been his ability to consistently defy our expectations… From his first speech after coming down from that golden escalator back in 2015, Trump has delivered one surprise after another — routinely punishing his political opponents for the assumptions they’ve made. Most folks assumed Hillary would win in 2016. Trump turned the situation to his advantage, and his victory now seems obvious in hindsight. The same thing happened in 2024, when pollsters seemed certain Harris would win the election.
