This week, we placed another trade from our interest rate model that trades iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE: IWM). We switched from one IWM put option to another on Wednesday. Our IWM November 3, 2023 $172.50 put showed a large triple-digit gain. Taking that gain and moving to another, less expensive option locked in at least a portion of that gain.

This week, we had another signal from our interest rate model that trades iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE: IWM). The signal reversed our position from a call to a put on Wednesday. Remember that this strategy generates signals based on how 10-year Treasury yields move rather than the market action in IWM. After a brief pullback this week, rates turned higher and generated a new signal.

This morning, we added a position based on the interest rate model I shared with you a few weeks ago. The rules rely on the short-term trend in interest rates to trade iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE: IWM). Different than many trading models, it’s an example of intermarket analysis. We are trading IWM based on what interest rates are doing. Recent weakness in interest rates triggered today’s buy signal in IWM.
