Welcome to the Thursday edition of Superforecast Trader! We have the latest numbers and, as I suspected, weekly jobless claims edged lower.

It’s nearly September, and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is telling the markets to expect a rate cut. At the same time, the job market at least appears to be ramping up — with hiring on the rise on jobless claims coming in relatively soft in recent weeks.

We’re back for our Thursday edition of Superforecast Trader! Before I turn things over to Matt to go over market performance, I wanted to briefly discuss today’s weekly jobless claims numbers. As you know, I went against the grain this week as my data suggested jobless claims would actually reverse course from the last few weeks and be lower. Although the consensus only suggested a slight drop, I believed the actual jobless claims would be significantly lower than the previous week.
