Welcome to the Thursday wrap-up edition of Superforecast Trader! Initial jobless claim numbers were released this morning by the Labor Department. Just as I suggested on Tuesday, those claims were relatively muted compared to the previous week’s figures:

Andrew Zatlin here with your Thursday edition of Superforecast Trader. Well, just as things go up… they go down. New jobless figures posted this morning showed claims dropped back down to their level from two weeks ago — around 221,000.

Well, the numbers are out and jobless claims ticked up 5,000 to 219,000 for the week ending February 15. This was at the high end of the range of both consensus and my own estimates.
