Let’s dig into an aspect of our put-write trade that we haven’t yet discussed. First, I’ll ask you to jot down two numbers (or at least hold them in your head)… The first number is 60… The second number is 40. Now let’s get to it!

The S&P 500 is up a little over 12% in 2026. That’s solid. If the year were to end today, the index would have beaten its long-term average. But here’s the thing… Virtually all of that return happened in just two months, April and May.

In terms of user experience, there are generally two ways a put-write trade can unfold – the “easy” way and the “hard” way. So far, roughly 90% of the 38 put-write trades I’ve recommended have gone the easy way.

Last Thursday was a decisively bad day for the mega cap Magnificent 7 tech stocks, with the group shedding an astounding $787 billion in market capitalization over the course of a single session. The selloff was sparked by news of surging capital expenditures — with Alphabet (GOOGL) alone on track to spend $200 billion building out its AI capacity in 2026.
